ABDOMINOPLASTY SPECIALISTS
Abdominoplasty purpose
The aim of an abdominoplasty surgery is to remove all the excess skin and fat between the navel and pubic area. Additionally, it repairs and tightens abdominal muscles, achieving a flat, firm stomach and a slimmer waist. When combined with high-definition liposuction, this surgery can result in a slimmer, more youthful overall figure.
Abdominoplasty procedure
Abdominal surgery involves a discreet incision above the pubic hairline, extending toward the hips. Through this incision, excess skin is removed, and abdominal muscles are strengthened. Depending on the severity of the issue, a full abdominoplasty or mini-abdominoplasty may be performed. In the latter case, a smaller area is treated.
Who is a good candidate for a breast lift?
Abdominoplasty is recommended for both men and women who have excess skin and fat in the abdominal area that cannot be removed through diet and exercise. In some cases, it can help alleviate rashes or infections that occur between skin folds. This procedure is ideal for those who wish to combat sagging, strengthen abdominal muscles, and improve skin tone. Schedule a consultation with our medical team to assess your specific case!
POSTOPERATIVE CARE: AFTER ABDOMINOPLASTY SURGERY
You can follow your usual diet after surgery, although try to eat smaller meals more often for the first few days until your rhythm of digestion has returned to normal. Stay hydrated.
Bed rest is required for the first 48 hours. Rest in a semi-flexed position (slightly bent at the waist) to avoid tension on the incision.
You can shower 24-48 hours post-surgery. Be cautious with the incision area and ensure it is completely dry using a cool hairdryer setting.
Wear a compression garment for one month to support healing, reduce swelling, and help shape the abdominal area.
Avoid smoking during the recovery period, as it can slow healing and increase the risk of complications.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSABOUT ABODOMINOPLASTY
Is abdominoplasty advisable if I am overweight or obese?
No, it is advisable to lose weight first and then address the excess skin on the abdominal wall. Abdominal surgery is not a weight-loss procedure.
Where will the scar be located?
The surgeon will make a horizontal incision above the pubic hairline (similar to a cesarean scar). This may extend to the hips depending on the amount of skin and fat to be removed. At IM CLINIC, scars are hidden along the prepubic line and, with proper care, become nearly imperceptible after approximately one year.
Will I need bandages or a compression garment post-surgery?
Yes. You will leave the operating room wearing a special compression garment that must be worn daily for at least one month. This garment promotes optimal recovery by stimulating blood and lymphatic flow, helping to reduce fluid buildup.
What results can I expect from abdominoplasty?
The results of this cosmetic surgery are excellent, achieving a flat, firm stomach and a more defined waistline. Excess skin and fat are removed, and abdominal muscles are repaired where necessary. Schedule a consultation with our medical team to start your journey toward a flatter stomach and improved muscle health!
