Gluteoplasty or buttock augmentation is a surgery that is performed on both men and women, normally between the ages of 25 and 45, who want to increase volume or size or improve the buttock area.

The ideal patient is someone with elastic skin and good buttock quality. Remember, therefore, that flaccid skin and a lack of muscle tone limit the results. Therefore, the older you are when you decide to have this surgery, the less noticeable the results might be. It is not recommended for patients with sagging buttocks or excess flaccidity in the gluteal region. In these cases, the main procedure is different although good results are possible.

Gluteoplasty consists of giving shape, volume and size to the buttocks by using implants, autologous fat (lipofilling) or a combination of both techniques.

WITH IMPLANTS: Where buttock implants are used, these are inserted through a small vertical incision made between the two buttocks, at the level of the coccyx so that the scar is completely hidden. The implants are similar to those used in breast augmentations, but the silicone gel is somewhat more cohesive (denser) because, given the characteristics of this part of the body, more solid implants with greater compressive strength are required.

LIPOFILLING: Lipofilling or lipotransfer is a surgical technique that consists of removing fat from one part of your body to transfer it to another. A liposculpture removes the fat from other parts of the patient’s body where it has accumulated, such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, etc. As well as providing the necessary fat for the buttocks, this also remodels and gives proportion to the rest of the body. The fat obtained is purified to remove any impurities and is enriched before being re-injected, this time into the buttocks. Because the material used to achieve greater buttock volume is autologous, i.e. it comes from the patient him or herself, there is no possibility of rejection or allergies. However, remember that there is a possibility of partial and random re-absorption of the infiltrated fat and, therefore, the process must sometimes be repeated. However, once the fat has attached, the results are permanent and are free of later complications. If this technique is selected, remember that lipofilling can improve the shape of the buttock, make it larger, make it look nicer, but it will not increase it in a prominent or voluptuous manner.

COMBINED TECHNIQUE: It is most frequent to combine both techniques: implants and lipofilling, when reshaping and greater volume is required.

Buttock augmentation surgery normally takes between 1.5 and 2 hours, involves general anaesthesia, and only requires one overnight stay at IM CLINIC.

The results are very good, especially in patients with a nice butt but with a certain lack of size and volume.

The location of the scar in the gluteal cleft hides it very well.

You must wear a special girdle for three or four weeks after surgery.

And you must sleep on your front for the first two weeks after buttock augmentation surgery.

Physical exercise involving the affected area must be avoided for at least five or six weeks, as well as injections in the gluteal area.

You can return to everyday life after around 10 days, but without any strenuous activities.
